Interview 1:
Q: How do you think athletes balance schoolwork and sports?
A: I think they learn by a lot of trial and error, and seeing what works for them personally.
Q: Do you use a daily planner?
A : No, I have a planner but I very rarely use it.
Q: How often do you go to the Rec Center to exercise?
A: I usually do not go that often.
Q: Did you exercise more in high school than you do now in college?
A: Yes, in high school I played softball and field hockey.
Interview 2:
Q: How do you think athletes balance schoolwork and sports?
A: I think they quickly adapt to this new lifestyle and seek help from peers who have dealt with the same challenge.
Q: Do you use a daily planner?
A: Yes I do.
Q: How often do you go to the Rec Center to exercise?
A: I go 2-3 times a week to exercise and play basketball.
Q: Did you exercise more in high school than you do now in college?
A: I lift weights more now that I am in college, but I got more exercise in high school due to the sports I played.
After taking these interviews, I noticed a few things about college life. I noticed that it seems to be a big challenge among college athletes to balance sports and school work. In many cases it even seems to be a deciding factor for whether students want to continue their athletic career into college. This makes me wonder if college sports are too demanding and if the constant early and late night practices are more damaging than they are beneficial. Also, I have found that the people I interviewed got more exercise in high school than they do now in college. I think this is because many people played sports in high school, but no longer play in college. I also think that the academic work load in college is much greater than in high school, so students do not have the time or even energy to exercise.
